Carabao Cup: Iheanacho Scores As Leicester Advance to 3rd Round; Etebo Shines; Balogun Crash Out

Kelechi Iheanacho netted his first goal of the season for Leicester City in Tuesday’s 4-0 Carabao Cup second round win over English Football League One side, Fleetwood Town at the King Power stadium reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
A superb eighth-minute half-volley from Christian Fuchs gave the Foxes lead and in the 39th minute a header from Vicente Iborra made it 2-0 for Leicester City.
Iheanacho made it 3-0 a minute from the restart before the win was wrapped up by Rachid Ghezzal who curled in a stunning strike in the 71st minute.
At the Bet365 stadium, Oghenekaro Etebo made his debut for Stoke City in the competition for Stoke City who advanced to the next round of Carabao Cup with a 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town.
The Nigerian midfielder was outstanding in the encounter for Gary Robert’s side who made it two wins from their last two games. He played all 90 minutes in for the Potters.
At the Amex stadium, Leon Balogun’s Brighton Hove Albion suffered a second round exit at home to Southampton in the Carabao Cup.
The Seagulls were dumped out of the competition after substitute Charlie Austin came off the bench to score a late winner for Mark Hughes’s side, which settled a cagey cup tie between the two Premier League clubs.
Balogun who has been called up for the Super Eagles squad to face Seychelles in September away in an African Nations Cup qualifier was an unused substitute.
