Carabao Cup: Manchester City stun Arsenal to advance to semis

Carabao
Holders Manchester City have cruised into the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup following a 4-1 win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.  Goals from Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Aymeric Laporte extends City’s unbeaten run in this competition to 18 games and sees them join Brentford in the hat for Wednesday’s semi-final draw. Arsenal had a nightmare start as City punished non-existent defending. Zinchenko had the ball and space to cross, he whipped a cross in and Gabriel Jesus rose to head unmarked. The Gunners leveled the scores through Alexander Lacazette who headed in Gabriel Martinelli's cross. In the second half, Runnarson had a night to forget as he spilled the ball from Riyad Mahrez's free-kick and into his own net. Foden then added the third minutes later as Fernandinho's through pass released the midfielder behind and produced the deftest out finish over Runarsson. In the 73rd minute, City were running away with this one as Aymeric Lapore got in on the act. Arsenal tried to play offside as City took a short corner but they got their defensive line all wrong as the unmarked Laporte got his head of Foden's in-swinging cross to take their tally to four.
