CAS Overturns Hayatou's Ban Sampson Adedeji Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has decided to overturn the ban melted to former president of the Confederation of African Football Issah Hayatou, BSNsports.com.ng can report. He was the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) between 1988 and 2017, on 16 March 2017, he was defeated by Malagasy challenger Ahmad Ahmad, ending Hayatou's 29-year reign as the CAF President. In 2017, Hayatou was banned for a breach of "duty of loyalty by FIFA and was also fined 30,000 Swiss francs ($33,000). The FIFA investigation concluded Hayatou signed CAF "into an anti-competitive agreement with Lagardère Sport," a media rights agency based in France. CAS on friday, ruled that Hayatou was not in breach of Article 15 (1) of the FIFA Code of Ethics, which was the basis for his ban.
