Celtic FC Trail Taiwo Awoniyi

By Sampson Adedeji

After crashing out of the qualifying round of the UEFA champions league, Scottish premier league champions Celtic FC has turned its attention to Nigeria international Taiwo Awoniyi, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Celtic on Wednesday surprisingly crashed out of the lucrative cup competition after they lost to Ferencvaros of Hungary 1-2.

The hierarchy seems to have noticed the lapses in the team attack and has picked out Awoniyi as the ideal solution to the problem.

Awoniyi spent last season on loan at German Bundesliga side Mainz 05 from the English premier league champions Liverpool.

Nigeria youngster is seen as a direct replacement for Odsonne Edouard who might be on his way out of the club.

It is understood that Liverpool value their player at £9million, despite the fact he’s still a prospect with no first-team appearances as he’s sent most his time at Anfield out on loan.
