Chairman, Coach, Others Thumb Up Olumide Oyedeji Youth Foundation Basketball Clinic In Ekiti By Niyi Busari The just-concluded two-day Basketball clinic organised by Olumide Oyedeji Youth Foundation has attracted lots of commendations from different administrators and coaches in Ekiti State. The clinic held at the Pavilion Ado Ekiti Township Stadium which aimed at discovering and nurturing young talented basketball players commenced on Monday through to Wednesday December 1. In order to catch them young, the former D'Tigers captain, Olumide Oyedeji, stormed Ekiti state on a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Sports, Ekiti State, Michael Awopetu and seized the opportunity to train over 70 children in basic basketball skills during the clinic to enhance their interest and skills in becoming top players in future. The boys and girls who participated are between the ages of four and fifteen years. They were selected from different primary and secondary schools across the state. Elated Ekiti State Basketball head coach, Adetayo Awojoye, commended the President Nigeria Olympians Association (NOA) for his efforts in organizing the clinic despite the short notice. "Olumide Oyedeji has set himself ahead of others by constantly organizing grassroots program for the development of basketball in Nigeria. I am surprised to see the level of organization in the two day clinic in Ekiti State despite the short notice. With program like across Nigeria, I am sure Nigeria will be a country to beat in the world." Adetayo told BSN Sports. Also the Chairman of Ekiti Sports Basketball Association, Hon. Mrs. Olusola Osetoba stated that the state will soon begin to reap the benefits of the training in the nearest future. Also present are; the Commissioner for Sports, Michael Awopetu, and General Manager of Ekiti State Sports Council, Adeyemi David Adekunle. Adeyemi, who also graced the occasion commended Olumide's contribution to basketball development in the country. Meanwhile, Ekiti State U17 Girls Basketball team who have been in camp ahead of the 2021 South West U17 Girls Basketball Championship are have arrived the venue of the of the competition. The maiden championship is slated to hold in Lagos from Friday, 3rd to 9th December. The inaugural edition of the U17 Basketball Tournament which involves all six Southwest states is organised by Olumide Oyedeji Youth Foundation
