Champions League: CAF Fines TP Mazembe, Raja Casablanca

CAF has fined Congolese Premier League side, TP Mazembe and Raja Club Athletic of Morocco $10,000 each for bringing the game into disrepute in the CAF Champions League quarter final game held in Lubumbashi, BNSports.com.ng reports.

CAF Disciinary Board rose from its meeting on Tuesday to announce the fines leveled on both teams.

"Following a preliminary decision, the CAF Disciplinary Board met on Tuesday, 21 July 2020 via video-conference to discuss incidents from the Total CAF Champions League 2019/20 quarter final second leg between TP Mazembe (DR Congo) v Raja Club Athletic (Morocco) held on Saturday (7 March 2020) in Lubumbashi:

These are the decisions taken after the virtual conference meeting.

Following presentations by General Secretary of Raja Club Athletic, Anis Mahmoud and player Iliass Hadad, the Disciplinary Board decided as follows;

"To impose a fine of 10,000 USD on Raja Club Athletic for the unfortunate behaviour of their players which resulted in the incitement of the TP Mazembe spectators
To lift the provisional suspension on Iliass Haddad, and a caution for his unsportsmanlike behaviour. To impose a fine of 10,000 USD on TP Mazembe for the security failure during the match in question."
