Championship: Billing Scores, Solanke Fires Blank, Ajayi Unused As League Actions Resumes By Omolagba Oluwayemi With the Tokyo 2020 Olympics gradually winding up, league actions across Europe are beginning to tip off and on Friday night in England, the championship played its first match of the 2021/22 season with clubs parading two Nigerians going head to head, BSNSports.com.ng reports. AFC Bournemouth hosted newly demoted West Brom and it ended in a 2-2 draw. Philip Anyanwu Billing a player whose root could be traced to Nigeria but representing the Dutch at the moment scored one of the goals for AFC Bournemouth in the night but his compatriot Dominic Solanke, a British with a Nigerian root could not locate the back of the net despite being on set, spearheading the attack of AFC Bournemouth for the entire duration. On the other side, Semi Ajayi who had an outstanding season with West Brom in the premier league last season was an unused sub. Emiliano Marcondes opened the scoring for the host in the 12th minute but Dara O'Shea ensured the game was on level terms going into the break as he scored the equaliser for West Brom in the 33rd minute. Philip Billing sends Bournemouth ahead again just seven minutes after the restart but 15 minutes later, Callum Robinson made sure the spoils was shared as he netted the equaliser for West Brom to leave the final scores at 2-2. It was a great game of football played on Friday night at the Vitality Stadium. Not a bad results for championship returnee, West Brom and for AFC Bournemouth who missed out on promotion last term, one will say it's a good way for them to start the season although a victory would've been better. The championship continues on Saturday and Sunday with Nigerian set to light it up across different centers.
