Championship: Mikel Set To Join Etebo At Stoke City

The reports coming from the Britannia Stadium the home of the English championship side Stoke city, indicated that the club is set to secure the services of former Nigeria's Super Eagles midfielder John Mikel Obi on a year deal, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

In the previous season he had been an influential figure for Tony Pulis at Middlesbrough, helping a push for the Championship play-offs.

He has been a free agent since leaving Trabzonspor in March, due to outbreak of Corona virus which led to him terminating his contract with the club by mutual consent.

Mikel came to the fore in English football during his time with Chelsea, with whom he won the Champions League, Europa League, two Premier League titles and three FA Cups during an 11-year stay.

If Mikel agreed to join the Potters he will playing alongside Nigeria's Super Eagles midfielder Etebo Oghenekaro who is still with the club.
