Former Super Eagles winger, Victor Moses, has made a substantial donation to help save his former club through the Wigan Athletic Supporters’ Club official Crowdfunder page, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Moses, who held huge popularity for his star performances during his two years at the DW Stadium between 2010 and 2012, got in touch with the official Supporters’ Club on Tuesday to say he wanted to help in any way he could to save Wigan Athletic and aid the club’s supporters in reaching their target.

Moses wanted to remain anonymous for his donation, however the Supporters’ Club insisted that the Nigerian international should receive recognition for a quite incredible gesture "which has taken our fundraising total to over £650,000".

Caroline Molyneux, Chairperson of the official Wigan Athletic Supporters’ Club, said: “Wow – what can we say?

“When Victor got in touch to say he wanted to help by donating such a substantial amount, I just couldn’t believe what I was hearing it’s such an incredible gesture.

“Victor wanted to make the donation and remain anonymous but we simply had to make sure he gets the recognition he deserves."

"Victor’s contribution has taken us past £650,000 and to within £100,000 of our next target of £750,000."

“We are so thankful to Victor for his support. He is an excellent footballer, a true role model and someone we always enjoyed watching at the DW Stadium. He will always be welcomed back here, even more so now!”

He follows a long list of players past and present who have donated including James McClean, Roberto Martinez and Reece James.
