Championship: Ajayi makes debut in West Brom

It was sweet good start for Nigeria's Super Eagles defender and midfielder Semi Ajayi who made his competitive debut for the English championship side West Bromwich Albion on Saturday in the match day 1 of the league.

BSN Sports reports that the former Rotherham United player played the whole duration of the game as West Brom picked a 2-1 away win over Nottingham Forest.

It was Matty Cash that opened the scoring for the home side in the 8th minute but Kyle Edwards leveled the game for the away side.

Matthew Philips scored the winning goal just before the half hour and ensured West Brom ended the half on a sound note.

All the efforts of Nottingham Forest to comeback into the game was nullified by Ajayi and his co-defenders who stood their ground through out the duration of the game.

The lanky defender was dropped from the Nigeria's Super Eagles squad to the 2019 African Cup of Nations on the eve of the competition.
