CHAN Failure : Rohr knocks LMC, urges the local players to up their game

By Sampson Adedeji

Following the inability of the Nigeria's Super Eagles B team to secure qualification to the 2020 Championships of African Nations ( CHAN), the coach of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr has placed the blame at the doorstep of the league body.

The Sparrow Hawks of Togo edged Nigeria side over the two legs to progress to competition slated for Cameroon next year, BSN reports

Rohr believed that the delay that chacterised the start of the league contributed majority to the ouster of the team.

“This (CHAN exit) is not good sign for the local players, if they could not go to CHAN.

“We therefore need better infrastructure, better level of football and for the players to play regularly, not for the league to be off for several months, players cannot be fit without regular competition, he stated.

He furthered stated that the local players must improve their game in order to challenge for Super Eagles slot.

“They have to be better than the players in Europe,” he stated. “I take only the best players. Do you know of a coach who does not play his best players?”, he concluded.
