China Tourney: Super Falcons thrash Romania, place 3rd

Nigeria's Super Falcons on Sunday bounced back to winning ways as they defeated Romania 4-1 in the third place at the ongoing 4-nations invitational tournament.

The current African Women Champions who lost 3-0 to host China on Thursday showed much improvement in the clash.

It was Chiwendu Ihezuo that broke the deadlock in the 44th minutes of the game but the Europeans leveled the game in the 55th minutes.

Skipper and defender Onome Ebi put Nigeria ahead again in the 63rd minutes before Rita Chikwelu increased the advantage 3-1 in favour of Nigeria.

Newly invited Ini Umutong netted the 4th goal in the 83rd minutes to push Falcons to a resounding victory.

The win placed Nigeria third in the tournament.

Next on the agenda for Super Falcons is Cyprus Women Cup starting from February 27th, 2019.
