Villarreal of Spain’s coach, Unai Emery has stated delight with the return from injury by Samuel Chukwueze and the gaffer admitted that The Yellow Submarine are better off with the Super Eagles’ star back in action, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Chukwueze has played only four matches this season, following a long-term injury he suffered during the semi-finals of last year’s UEFA Europa League, and Emery confessed that he is excited seeing the lad add more quality to his squad in the Spanish LaLiga.
Incidentally, all four matches played by ‘Samu’ this season were off the bench, as Emery does not want to rush him back into full duration play, yet the Spanish tactician is singing praises for the youngster, who dazzled in Monday’s draw his side played with Cadiz.
The former Arsenal of England coach went on to reveal the level of quality he gains from having Chukwueze on the pitch and hinted that the left-footed Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup gold medalist and third highest goals scorer will get more playing time now that he is fit again.
Emery says he is pleased with Chukwueze’s progression since his first match back on October 17, when his side battled Osasuna, after spending five months on the sidelines, following the injury he copped in the Europa League semi-final second leg clash against Arsenal.
The product of Diamond Football Academy of Umuahia even required surgery to solve the injury problem, but Emery is keeping faith with the youngster, who he gave playing time against Young Boys of Switzerland in the UEFA Champions League, versus Athletic Bilbao in LaLiga and then the fixture with Cadiz.
Chukwueze opened his account for the season against Young Boys exactly a week ago and came close to adding to that tally when he hit the woodwork in the 66th minute of the 3-3 draw with Cadiz, after which he gained plaudits from Emery.
Emery said : “Those are positive things we found in the game. For Samu to return after the important injury. In Bilbao it cost him a little more and now he has had more minutes. We are finding Samu’s qualities. “
