By Emediong Silver Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of highly-rated striker Ruben Shakpoke to the club's academy, BSNSports scooped. The teenager joins from Norwich City having rejected the chance of a scholarship with the Championship side. Shakpoke, an England youth international, is expected to initially link up with Villa's under-18s squad. The Villain's are still restructuring their squad before transfer window closed. Villain's Academy manager Mark Harrison disclosed on the club website, stating that: “We’re delighted to announce Ruben’s signing and by welcoming him to the club”. "He has joined us after a lot of hard work was put in during our recruitment process and I thank everyone for their efforts. "We’re looking forward to working with Ruben and developing his talents". But the arrival of the forward, who cart 11 goals in one match against Watford under-15s in the 2018/19 season, had not been confirmed until now. However, it could be recalled that his father Jero Shakpoke, was former Super Eagles player having had a club stints with Reggiana, Bologna, OGC Nice, Varese and Royale Union Saint-Gilloise before quiting the round leather game due to injury.
