Congress Passes Vote of Confidence on Senator Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, Extends Tenure by 3 months

Anambra state Football Association congress, defied the threat posed by the Covid-19 pandemic on Tuesday to carry out one of their statutory duties.

The tenure of the Anambra state football Association expires next month with fresh elections imminent but the devastating effect of the Coronavirus pandemic calls for urgent action, prompting the congress to call for an extraordinary meeting.

In the absence of Anambra state FA chairman, Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, the congress went ahead as planned as members observed all the rules of social gathering in order to stay in line with the federal government directives.

After an intense deliberation, Congress passed a vote of confidence on the board and extended their tenure by three months, in the hope that the world must have found a solution to the pandemic before then.

Reappointed for a second term into the CAF AFCON Commission, Senator Ubah is also gunning for a second term in office as he seeks re-election after four successful years as chairman of Anambra state football association.

His tenure has brought massive changes in the area of grassroot football development and capacity building.

Anambra state football association secretariat stands out as one of the best in Nigeria presently with state of the art facilities in all the offices and it is on record that chief Ubah single handedly sponsored members of the state football association and other key stakeholders to the 2018 world cup in Russia. That is the first by any state FA chairman in history

Presently there are rumours that some individuals are nursing the ambition to contest but stakeholders, especially congress members have advised anyone thinking of doing so, to forget it, as they are solidly behind Senator Ubah returning for a second term.
