Continental Cup: Mozambique Beats Nigeria In Match Day 2 Of Olympic Qualifiers By Uche Dozie The Nigeria Male Beach Volleyball team kicked off its campaign of the Continental Cup holding in Agadir, Morocco with a win on day one and a loss on day 2, BSNSports.com.ng reports. The team defeated Kenya 2-1 on Tuesday in a tie decided in the golden match to record their first win in the men’s category of the tournament which also serves as Olympic Qualifiers. After a 0-2 defeat by the Kenyans where Simon/Ogunshina lost to Mogeni/Melly (15-21, 13-21), Ezike/Chidiebere won the second match defeating Odour/Mwaniki 2-0 (21-16, 21-16) and consolidating the contest in the golden match to take the day 2-1 (21-13, 19-21, 15-13). On Wednesday, the team succumbed to a superior Mozambique side who won 0-2. Ainadino Martinho/Monjane of Mozambique defeated Ezike/Chidiebere of Nigeria 2-1 (21-16, 17-21, 15-8) in the first match before Mondlane/Nguvo (MOZ) put the game beyond the reach of Nigeria after beating Simony/Ogunshina 2-0 in the second match (21-13, 21-15). The team go against Mali who are yet to get a win in the tournament in day 3. Nigeria and 14 other men teams are battling for the right to be called the Continental Cup Champions and also capture the sole berth for the Tokyo Olympic Games.
