Covid -19: clubs in Rwanda temporarily fires players

The spread of the coronavirus pandemic is affecting Rwandan football. In addition to the suspension of the championship, this illness has repercussions on the contracts of players playing in the first division championship.

After Musanze Football Club, it is the turn of Hope FC, another club evolving in the Rwandan elite, to initiate the force majeure clause in the players' contract by temporarily dismissing them. The club justifies this decision by the impact of the crisis caused by the coronavirus.

" We have temporarily dismissed our players because all football activities have been suspended in our country and almost everywhere in the world to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and we do not know how long it will last. We did not want to wait and put ourselves in a difficult situation. We let our players know that they would get back to work when this pandemic is over and we asked them to try to keep their physical shape , ”said Kamuzinzi Godefroid, President of Hope FC, relayed by the Rwandan media.

As a reminder, the Rwandan Ministry of Sports announced the suspension of all sports activities on its soil on March 13. The Rwandan Football Federation, however, hopes to resume sports activities after the end of the pandemic.
