Covid 19: Guinea Halts Leagues
By Sampson Adedeji
Like the Belgium Netherlands, France and Argentina, Guinea Football Federation has decided to halt the league due to Corona virus.
The league has been on hold since mid March due to outbreak of Corona virus and Horoya A.C. was leading the league as at then, BSN Reports.
The President of the Guinean Professional Football League (LGFP) Mathurin Bangoura made the announcement via his social media handle.
“ We don't know when this pandemic will go away. With the approach of the rainy season and the presence of the pandemic, we said very quickly that we had to stop the championship.
We stop the championship at this level, "said the leader, who will inform the African Football Confederation (CAF).
“ The Federation must communicate the list of representatives of African competitions for next season.
We told ourselves that it would be the first three of the first matches, that is to say, the Horoya, the SAG of Siguiri and the Wakriya which are the first three (of the first leg).
we give the names of the first three to the Guinean Football Federation (FGF) and we are stopping the championship from now on.
We are also stopping the Ligue 2 championship. For the 2020-2021 season, there will be no climb and there will be no descent.
So we keep the Ligue 1 clubs as such and the Ligue 2 clubs as such," he said.
It remains to be seen whether the title of champion will be awarded to Horoya or not and to know the identity of the 4th club qualified for continental competitions.
