Covid-19: Kano SWAN Suspends Congress

Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN Kano state chapter have suspended its planned congress owing to the threat and spread of the dreaded COVID 19.

The chairman of the state chapter of the association, Musbahu Bala Yangurasa said the congress earlier planned for 26th Mach remain suspended until further notice.

According to him, the congressional meeting was earlier schedule for its members to converge and discuss critical issues concerning the affairs of the association.

He said “ it is our tradition and directed by our statues mandates to meet at a minimum of six congress annually, Kano state chapter held its congress last in October 2019.

“we are therefore acting under the constitutional responsibility , we planned to summon congress, plans were already at an advanced stage to hold our congress, unfortunately the pandemic of COVID 19 have compelled us to shift grounds.” Musbahu revealed.

Musbahu further explained that the congress was billed to discuss issues relating to challenges bordering on ID cards for its members , 2020 Almanac, NSF 2020 and other critical welfare issues that were bothering the members of the association.

He appealed to members to stay safe in this period of health challenges, pledging that a future date for the staging of the congress would be communicated to members of Kano SWAN, soon as the situation improves.
