Covid 19: LMC Assured The League will End This Year
By Sampson Adedeji
The chairman of the League Management Company ( LMC) Mallam Shehu Dikko has confirmed that the league will end this year.
The Nigeria professional football league (NPFL) was suspended few weeks back after the corona virus outbreak halted football across the World, BSN Reports.
The Uganda Premier league became the first league to be called off on Thursday due to the virus and SC Vipers was also declared champion.
Belgian Jupiler league was also ended on Thursday with Club Brugge on top of the league with 15 points gap but final decision will come from the Football Association on April 15th.
But Nigeria league body refused to follow suit and the league will be completed the moment virus issues is overcome.
" As the Coronavirus issue continues globally, the LMC is still focusing on ending the Nigerian league this year.
“We are observing what is happening globally in other leagues that are in this same situation with Nigeria.
“Also, the reorganisation of CAF and FIFA calendars based on the Coronavirus will tell the LMC the line of action to take.
“The Coronavirus outbreak is a global issue and the LMC is not in a haste to crown any club as champions. We pray the global health issues end early enough so that the league will resume,” he told Guardian.
