COVID-19: Osimhen Says He Won’t Do Giveaway To Nigerians To Avoid Insults

Nigeria international and Lille striker, Victor Osimhen, says he will not do giveaway to help cushion effects of coronavirus pandemic, after he was insulted by Nigerian fans the last time he did it.
The 21-year-old striker stated this in response to Asisat Oshoala’s advice to assist his fans with a token, to ameliorate pains of being locked at home to avoid farther spread of the killer virus that has claimed tens of thousands of lives across the globe.
Osimhen’s post on his Instagram page “Nothing way up bring way ground no dey collect✊🏽E GET WHY😂, ” has so far attracted comments from seven persons, including Asisat Oshoala, with the Super Falcons captain and Barcelona striker stating: “Baba do giveaway na 😂🤣.”
Osimhen, who made his senior debut for Nigeria in a 3–0 friendly win over Togo on 1 June 2017, replied: “Zee I don tire😂last time way I do giveaway them insult me join😭😭😂😂😂😂.”
Formerly of Wolfsburg, Osimhen is a household name at Lille, having scored 13 goals in 27 matches since joining the French Ligue 1 side in July 2019.
He was named Ligue 1 Player of the Month in October 2019 and was a key member of the Nigeria U17 team that won the World Cup in 2015 in Chile, carting home the Golden Boot and Silver Ball awards as highest scorer and second Most Valuable Player respectively. His performances also earned him the CAF Youth Player of the Year award in 2015.
