Covid-19: Tosin Omoyele Wants Plateau United Declared Champions
By Sampson Adedeji
Plateau United striker, Tosin Omoyele has said that the league leaders, Plateau United should be declared champions as the coronavirus pandemic forced the league to be on hold, BSNSports.com.ng can report.
The Nigeria league like any other leagues across the world has been on suspension since March due to the outbreak of Corona virus, BSN Reports.
Some countries in Africa have decided to end their leagues and award the trophy to the table toppers while others declared it null and void.
Omoyele in his reactions while speaking on Sports Arena with Ahmad Emmanuel {Radio Wizard} of Jatto 102.7 Fm, said that the health of every player should be considered before the restart of the league as the cornavirus is still spreading in the country. He added that if there is no massive improvement in the decreasing number of the covid-19 cases, then the league should be cancelled and trophy should go to his team Plateau United.
"Our health is more priority to us and we need to hear from the government to know how the situation is and if the situation is getting worse, I think they should just stop the league and give us the trophy." Omoyeile said.
But if they think they can find solution to it, he continued, why not? We can play but the health of the players is more important," said Omoyele.
He further supported hiring foreign technical adviser for the national team while the local coach should work as an assistant, with sole aim of learning from the foreign manager.
" Yes there are so many coaches in Nigeria that can do the job but for me i will prefer if we can have a foreigner as technical adviser and local coach as assistant, so they can learn from him.
"You know no one is perfect, local coaches can handle it as well but there won't be much respect for them, we respect foreigners more than black coach .
"I'm sure the NFF will go the right way because is their job, " he said.
Before returning to Nigeria, Omoyele has a short stint with Egyptian premier league side El Gouna.
