Cricket World Cup African qualifiers: Nigeria Senior Female Team Set For Monday Departure Akanimo Kufre Nigerian female cricket team is set to fly out for the International Cricket Council, (ICC) World Cup Africa qualifiers on Monday to Botswana with a 22-man team. The female cricket qualifiers will be played in T20 format as Nigeria is expected to play in group B against Namibia, Uganda, Sierra Leon and Cameroon. Group A teams comprises of the host, Botswana, Swaziland, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zimbabwe. Cricket action is set to begin on 7th to 20th September 2021. Nigeria will draw from the experience of the Kwibuka T20 tournament women's invitational where the senior female team played against the likes of Namibia and Rwanda females. Two tickets are up for grabs from the African ladies. Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Oriss assured the girls readiness to standout. "They are excited about the opportunity and they are going with high hopes to make a difference." The national female team captain, Blessing Etim equally express optimism about their expected outcome in Botswana. "We are expecting a better performance and results this time. The girls are in high spirit and well motivated." Etim said. Some of the Nigerian officials Coach Onome O. Coach Theophilus Ibodeme, Team manager, Mr. John Obuh, and five others will travel with the team later today.
