CSL: Martins Fires Blank In Shanghai Shenhua Defeat

Action commenced in the Chinese Super league on Saturday afternoon but it was a day to forget for Nigeria's Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins as his club suffered a 2-0 defeat on the opening day, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Football returned to China on Saturday after corona virus outbreak halted football in the country and worldwide.

Martins rejoined Shanghai Shenhua few weeks back after he departed the club in 2019 due to injury.

He started the game against Guangzhou Evergrade on the bench as the home side took the early lead through Shihao Wei.

Martins was introduced into the game in the 64th minute for Xu Yang before Wei completed his brace in the 66th minute of the game to give a maximum points.

Martins was signed on free transfer as a cover up for on loaned Odion Ighalo who is still with English premier league side Manchester United.
