The Lateef Erinfolami led Elephant girls knocked off a rusty start with just 8 points in the first quarter (8-16), however, reacted to some hair drier treatment after a time out to take a 26-19 advantage into the halftime break, BSNSports.com.ng reports. Inspired by John Grace and Murijanatu Musa who put up 15 & 12 points respectively. Sunshine's fightback in the 3rd and 4th quarter (11-12); ( 6-17) could help keep the Akure side off the jaws of defeat. In the other games, two teams battling for their first win of the tournament Raptors Girls of Surulere and War Queens of Sango Ota battled against each other. The Stadium girls as they are fondly called were the more composed of the two sides bagging a 63-48 points win over the Peter Akindele tutored team. The young War Queens outscored Raptors in the 2nd and 3rd quarters (11-10) and (16-13) but ran out of legs to finish strong, as they were outscored 21-10 in the 4th quarter. The shocking result of the day was the valiant 63-51 points victory of Coach Dossu Mensah's Warriors Amazon of Ilupeju over the much experienced but match rusty Inspector General of Police Queens. A very edgy first quarter (18-17) followed by an offensive collapse in the 2nd and 3rd quarters (7- 14); (10-14) game the Amazons' what proved to be an unassailable 10 points lead and win.
