D.K Olukoya Championship: MFM, First Bank, Sunshine, Amazon Makes Final Four By Our Reporter After four-days of grueling basketball action at the Molade Okoya Thomas Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos, the semi-final places of the ongoing 1st DR D. K. Olukoya Girls Basketball Championship has been decided after a thrilling final round of games in the preliminaries, BSNSports.com.ng reports. High rolling Inspector General of Police Queens led by a 20 points display by Christy to give the crowd an exhilarating contest against MFM despite losing 40-44 points in a match they needed to win to secure a place in the Final Four. Earlier in the day, Delta Force needed over-time to get past a much improved and inspiring Warriors Amazon 60-53 points after the game ended 48-48 after regulation. Despite the overtime loss, Coach Dossu Mensah led Warriors Amazon finished ahead of IGP Queens sneaking into the Semi-finals of the competition in the process thanks to a superior points differential over the Police Queens in group A. In the other games of the day, Murijanatu Musa's 10 points and 10 rebounds helped First Bank to a 50-36 victory over Raptors Girls, sealing a 100% record for them at the tournament while also emerging as winners of group B. In the second game of the group, Sunshine Angels of Akure booked their place in the Semi-finals of the competition thanks to a 53-31 points win over the War Queens of Sango Ota. The Coach Sola Aluko Girls took care of business early and maintained their dominance from start to finish, leaving the youthful Ota team tutored by coach Peter Akindele playing catch up in all of the 40 minutes of action to finish as runners up in Group B behind the undefeated First Bank basketball club of Lagos. The Semi-finals will see First Bank play Warriors Amazon at 11 am, while Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries Women Basketball club will battle Sunshine Angels of Akure in the second Semi-Final match at 1 pm. All games will be at the Molade Okoya Thomas Hall of the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Saturday, with the 3rd Place and Final games holding on Sunday afternoon.
