MINISTER FOR SPORTS SOLOMON DALUNG COMMISIONS ULTRA MODERN STADIUM AT DAWAKIN KUDU IN KANO
Dawakin Kudu local government area of Kano state played host to jubilant sports enthusiasts from Kano state and beyond who were at hand to witness the official commissioning of the ultra modern mini stadium by the Honorable minister Barrister Solomon Dalung today.
The Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje Stadium Dawakin Kudu is the community project of member representing Dawakin kudu constituency at the Federal house of representatives Hon. Mustapha Bala Dawaki. On behalf of President Muhammad Buhari, the deeds to the edifice was handed over to the Kano state government by the honorable minister for youth and sports development.
Barrister Dalung that the federal government has made good it's promise of delivering grassroots sports facilities for the development of sports in the country. The stadium construction project was started in 2017 and the Hon. minister expressed satisfaction with the work done hoping continued mainatainance by the Kano state government could be achieved henceforth. Barrister Dalung said he hopes these sports facilities could lead to discovery of sports talent in years to come.
Furthermore, footballs, sports kits and other sports equipment worth N120,000 were officially handed over to the representatives of the 44 local sports councils in the state.
The event was graced by his excellency the executive governor of Kano state Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (Kadimul Islam), the deputy governor Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, the Chairman of Kano state sports commission Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima and several dignitaries with koroso cultural performance by the Kano state cultural troop.
To the delight of spectators present a novelty 100 meter race and football match between Kano Pillars FC and NNL side Giadano FC held to mark the occasion. The match ended one goal to nil in favour of the NPFL side with the lone goal scored by veteran NPFL player Rabiu Ali via a penalty awarded in the second half of the match. At conclusion of the event a trophy was handed over to Kano pillars football club.
