Delta FA Crisis: Players' Body Drags NFF To Court

The National Association of Nigeria Footballers (NANF), has dragged Nigeria Football Federation before a Federal High Court in Delta Stste, challenging the powers of the football body to set up a normalization committee to run the Affairs of Delta State Football Association.

The originating summons filed 29 May 2020 with suit number FHC/WR/CS/35/2020, is praying the court to simply determine whether the NFF acted within provisions of the NFA ACT 2004, a governing instrument of Nigerian football as at today, whether or not there is a subsisting Board of the DFA.

Parties sued in the matter are:- NFF President, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, Second Vice-president, Shehu Dikko, First Vice-president, Seyi Akinwumi, Sanusi Mohammed, Ahmed Yusuf Fresh and Ibrahim Gusau, Hon. Minister Youth and Sports, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Delta State Football Association, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.

Others parties are members of the Normalisation Committee set up by NFF to run the affairs of Delta State Football Association namely;, Henry Nkeki, Emma Nunu, Mitchell Emami and Azuka Ogosi.

No date has been fixed for hearing of the matter.

A part of the release by NANF and signed by its President, Harrison Jalla reads: "It would be recalled that the NFF tried to sideline two prominent ex-Internationals, Edema Fuludu and Victor Ikpeba as Chairman and Vice Chairman respectively of the DFA, so as to bring in their cronies through a contraption called Normalization Committee, an exclusive preserve of FIFA in dealing with emergencies.

"We in the NANF stand fully behind our colleagues as injury to one is injury to all".
