Basic Sports in Nigeria understands that Derby County are close to signing former Celtic defender, Efe Ambrose on a short term.

English Championship side Derby County is on the verge signing the Nigeria's Super Eagles defender Efe Ambrose to fortified his leaking defence.

Ambrose left Scottish Premier league side Hibernian during winter transfer window despite the club wishing to tying him down.

Derby coach Frank Lampard indicated in the former Kaduna United centre back in the last week of winter transfer but was unable to agree term with the player.

The utility player made 160 appearances for Celtic before dropped out of the first team and later moved out on loan to Hibernian.

Ambrose was part of Nigeria team that clichéd 2013 Africa Cup of Nation in South Africa under the tutelage of Late Coach Stephen Keshi.
