  "Desire for Revenge Made Me Go Into Boxing" - WBF Champion By Adewale Tijani The newly crowned World Boxing Federation Super Featherweight Champion, Ridwan Oyekola has disclosed what made him to take to boxing. Answering questions from Boluwaji Ogunmola on the BCOS TV weekend sports programme, Saturday Breakfast Sports Show (SBS Show), Oyekola narrated an incident which made to venture into boxing. The WBF Champion popularly called "The Scorpion" by his fans, revealed that he engaged in boxing to avenge the serious beating he suffered at the hands of a peer in his neighbourhood. "I went into boxing for a reason. A guy in my area beat me mercilessly. I was so aggrieved and bitter that I decided to avenge. In order to retaliate, I went to learn boxing. But as time went on, my desire to retaliate changed to passion for the game and I took boxing with all seriousness it deserved", Oyekola narrated. The Scorpion added that his love for boxing knew no bound and he disobeyed his parents who kicked against his decision to be a boxer. "I love boxing very much, It has become part of my life. My parents did not want me to be a boxer but I didn't listen to them. I followed my heart and I thank God I didn't regret my decision", the new Champion recalled. Ridwan Oyekola became the WBF Super Featherweight Champion following his victory over his Argentine challenger, Lucas Mattias Montesino on the 27th of December 2020 at the Ilaji Resorts in Ibadan. On Saturday  December 2, 2020, Oyekola was gifted a six million naira Jaguar car by a boxing enthusiast, Abdul Wahab Adekunle, as reward for his recent feat.
