Desser Hails Heracle Armelo As He Set To Depart
By Sampson Adedeji
Newly invited Nigeria's Super Eagles striker Cyril Dessers has hailed his Dutch Eredivisie side Heracles Armelo for encouraging young players.
Dessers is set to move to the Belgian Jupiler League Club RKC Genk after they agreed a 4 year deal with Heracle, BSN Reports.
In an extensive interview with the club, Cyriel Dessers talks candidly about the past season. Dessers starts with a message to the supporters: “I want to tell you that Heracles Almelo is a really nice club.
I hope you realize that. ” Right from the moment the Belgian came, he felt at home in Almelo: “I've always loved to be here. Even if it was only a year.
It was short but sweet, but this transfer symbolizes how Heracles Almelo works. Giving young players a platform and then working hard on it, so that they can eventually make the step that I can now take. ”
“I can now make the step to my dream club. What I was a supporter of as a little boy.
” Dessers, who was called up for the Nigerian national team just before the corona crisis, indicates that this did not happen by itself. “I didn't do this alone. We did this together. I learned a lot last year. I worked hard with the staff.
I watched many images together with Frank Wormuth, he really saw me as a project. To see now that this is the outcome makes me proud.
Looking back on the season, one thing really stays with him: “The reception after the match against FC Twente was great. This was my best memory of my time here.
A really great moment and it shows how involved the fans are. The fact that more than 5,000 season card holders have already renewed in this time also indicates how loyal they are. ”
Together with Steven Berghuis, he finished in fifteen league goals from twenty-six league games when the competition was interrupted abruptly. This makes him the first player of Heracles Almelo who, although unofficial, has become top scorer in the Eredivisie.
