Cyriel Dessers has been flouted by the Super Eagles for upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone, as the sensational strikerhas given reasons why he has also lost his spot in the Genk first team, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The 25-year-old who cost his club a princely four million Euros in the summer was an unused sub in Genk 2-1 Limburg derby win over Saint-Truiden.
He has now said he should not have continued to play for the Belgian club even when he suffered a head injury in training.
“I knew how I had lost my place,” he told HBvL.
“I kept playing after my unfortunate fall in training. I struggled with a headache for a few weeks, was never the same. It was also no ordinary injury like a swollen ankle. It took some time to find the right diagnosis.”
