The hardworking defender over the weekend sustained an injury in the game against the champion Bayern Munich and was replaced in the 27th minute of the game. The Nigeria international played the entire duration of the game and helped Hoffenheim to a 5-1 win over Holstein Kiel. Apart from winning the game Hoffenheim also qualified for the round of 16 of the tournament. By recovering from the injury, Akpoguma is back in contention for a place in the Super Eagles team lists that is set to be released before the end of the week.
