Didier Drogba Exclusion: FIFA Cancels FIF Presidential Election

The Federation International Football Association(FIFA) has stepped in to solve Didier Drogba's ineligibility to contest in Ivory Coast concerning the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) President election that about to take place on Sept 5th.

Didier Drogba has shown interest to contest for the position but he was banned from competing for that election. However, FIFA has stepped in to suspend the controversial election until further notice.

The Blues legend, Didier Drogba, is keen to becoming the next president of the Ivorian Football Federation, as he schemes to better the football system in his country.

Recent reports from Ivory Coast had it that Drogba had been excluded from competing in this month's vote for the next president of the Ivory Coast Football Federation (FIF).

Drogba encountered this recent setback after the organization rejected Drogba’s candidacy, insisting he was ineligible to run for the position after two of the names he had submitted as his sponsors were ruled not to have the necessary permission to do so.

Nevertheless, Drogba’s hopes to become FIF president has been restored after FIFA ordered the suspension of all activity relating to the elections until it received various documentation.

Drogba wasn’t given the approval to partake in the elections which were scheduled for 5 September. Nevertheless, citing concerns that the electoral process may not be free and fair, football’s world governing body requested FIF’s electoral commission to send through five files and to delay the election until it had a chance to vet them.

“Pending your manuscripts and information, we invite you to cancel all actions relating to the electoral process until further notice,” FIFA Secretary General, Fatma Samoura penned.

“Some say that the committee has been prevented from reviewing its activities in total calm and an independent manner because of outside interference.”
