DOHA 2019: IAAF announces prize money for medallist

Ahead of the 2019 World Athletics championship in Doha, World Atheletics governing body (IAAF) has announced the prize money for the each medal winner and team sports winner, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

BSN reports that Nigeria athletics stars are among the athletes that will vie for honour in the Asia country and many of them are also using the events to seal their places for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games.

For the individual events, winner will smile home with $60,000, while first runner-up gets $30,000 and second runner-up picks up $20,000.

4th place will earn $15,000, 5th and 6th position will take $10,000 and $6,000, respectively as 7th and 8th position receive $5000 and $4000 respectively.

For the relay teams, Gold medalist will earn $80,000, Silver $40,000 and Bronze $20,000.

4th place in the relay will receive $16,000, 5th $12,000 with 6th position getting $8000, 7th and 8th position will earn $6000 and $4000 .

The championship is scheduled to start on 27th of September till 10th of October 2019.
