DOHA 2019: Okagbare disqualified in 200 meters

The hope of Team Nigeria participating at the ongoing 2019 Athletics championship in Doha to secure medal in women 200 meters through Blessing Okagbare has finally been dashed.

The sprint queen who has been earlier disqualified from further participation in the championship after she withdrew from the 100 meters but was to take part after her appeal was upheld, BSN reports.

Okagbare was placed in lane 9 of Heat 5 for the 200 meters women and finished 4th with a time 22. 74 but disqualified for lane infringements.

She dumped 100 meters to focus on the 200 meters and relay races but her disqualification will have adverse effect on her future races and ranking.
