By Sampson Adedeji

After not too impressive performances by the Team Nigeria at the ongoing World Athletics Championship in Doha, Minister of Youth and Sports Mr Sunday Dare has shifted focus to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Team Nigeria posted a below par performance in Doha which calls for questioning at different quarters of the country.

The poor results by the Team Nigeria forced the Minister of Sports to shift his attention to the Olympics coming up next year. Sunday Dare who promises federal government full support for the Olympics Games in Tokyo believed that with adequate preparations, Team Nigeria will surpass its previous performance and once again put smiles on the faces of Nigerians

"Nigeria will remain focused for Tokyo because we still have medal hopefuls. We competed well in Doha." He wrote on his official Twitter handle.

Having learnt from the poor performance in Doha, he stated that Nigeria will concentrate more in sports where they have comparative advantage over others.

"Lessons learnt. Now a laser focus on training and technicals as we prepare for the Olympics. We will concentrate only on select sports where stats show we are strong," he stated.

All medal hopefuls such as Blessing Okagbare, Divine Oduduru, Raymond Ekevwo to mention but few all failed to live up to expectations in Doha.
