Blessing Okagbare Finishes 2nd Behind Josse Ta Lou By Admin Nigeria sprints queen Blessing Okagbare on Friday clocked a season best of 10.90secs as she finished second in the women’s 100m at the Doha Diamond League behind Ivory Coast’s Marie Josee Ta Lou, BSN Sports reports. The women’s 100m field at the event could be likened to an Olympic final as the race lived up to expectations. Ta Lou took the day with a world lead and personal best of 10.85secs – dropping 0.01secs from her former PB. Having clocked a wind-aided time of 10.72secs earlier this season, Okagbare finished second while double Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson of Jamaica placed third in 10.93secs. The other Ivorian in the event Murielle Ahoure and South Africa’s Carina Horn settled for fourth and fifth respectively with 10.96secs and 10.98secs – a new PB and national record for the South African. Dafne Schippers was sixth with an SB of 11.03secs. Okagbare has competed twice in the 200m this year – running a new African record of 22.04secs in Texas last month and another 23.43secs on Saturday to win the Texas Tech Corky/Crofoot Shootout in Lubbock.
