Just before the Tokyo Olympic Games the Nigeria side suffered a defeat to the United States in one of the warm game en route the games. The two teams clashed again in their opening group game in Saitama in the early hours of Tuesday and it was the Yankees ladies that triumph. D'Tigress started the game like an house on fire and were able to win the first quarter 20-17 but the Americans took over the game in the second quarter and at the of half time it was 44-32 in their favour. The Americans still dominated the third quarter and at the end of the final quarter they were victorious with 81- 72. The D'Tigress will play their second group match against France on Friday at 9:20am and face the host, Japan in their final group game on Monday at 2:00 am.
