Dunfermline Counts On Ambrose Experience

Dunfermline
Sampson Adedeji Manager of Scottish Championship side John Hughes has hailed the influence of former Nigeria's Super Eagles defender, Efe Ambrose less than a week into his time with Athletic and his willingness to help improve others, BSNsports.com.ng can report After confirming his interest in the Nigeria international centre back during last month’s transfer window, the Pars boss finally landed his man last Friday on a loan deal from St Johnstone until the end of the campaign. Hughes said that while the former Celtic player would provide further competition at the heart of his defence. “First and foremost, there’s competition for places. He brings that vast amount of experience, his know-how, and if you know Efe’s character, he wants to help people. “He wants to help, he wants to be part of it, and you could see that in the first couple of days he was here. “We just need to get him up to speed. We’ll speak to him, he knows he’s got competition for places, and we’ll take it from there. “Even in the time when I was asking him to come along, it was a case of ‘Come on, we need a hand here, we need a bit of experience to give us a hand, we’ve got a lot of young boys at the club’, and he buys into that. That’s just his character. He’s a loveable guy. If he hits the ground running, and plays the part that we’re hoping he can play, I think he might become a fans’ favourite here. “It’s all down to Efe. I’m looking forward to him getting started," he said. Ambrose was part of the triumphant Super Eagles team to the 2013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa under late coach Stephen Keshi.
