Dutch Eredivisie : Okoye Debut In Sparta Defeat

  By Sampson Adedeji It was a day to forget for Nigeria's Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday as his team Sparta Rotterdam suffered a 1-4 home defeat to visiting Heerenven same day he made his debut, BSNSports.com.ng can reports . Okoye joined the Dutch side this summer from German club Fortuna Dusserdolf and he has played in the cup games. He was saddled with the responsibility of being in goal on Sunday but Heereveen proved too much for the host as they scored 4 goals and allowed Sparta once. Okoye who was also in goal during the midweek games is among the players invited for Nigeria's Super Eagles 2021 African Cup Of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone. He was in goal for the Nigeria side in the international friendly matches played in October, 2020 against Desert Warrior of Algeria and Carthage Eagles of Tunisia.
