Elections into Delta State Football Association Board have been slated for Tuesday in Asaba, Delta State, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

This is contained in a letter signed by the Secretary of the Association, Ogosi Azuka released on 10th September 2020. According to the letter, all appeals for the upcoming election should be submitted to the Secretary last Friday, 11th September 2020.

The screened candidates for the elections are; Ochulor Harrison, Egho David, Sam Sodje, Nwaomucha Kenneth, Steven Cole, Chiemeka Azuka, Nkeki Sunday Lucky, Emuobo Nwamaka, Ambekederemo Ochuko, Uchenna Ossai, Godday Emulefe, Mike Aniemeke and Onos Michael.

Meanwhile, the acting Chairman, Delta State Football Association, Edema Fuludu said it is an attempt to use government interference to take over the state football. He accused Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, president, Amaju Pinnick as the man behind the the state football problem. This according to him forced the state FA to write a petition to the Ministry of Youth and Sports as well as Nigeria President, Muhammadu Buhari.

"We have written a petition to the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari through Special Assistant on Sports to the President, Daniel Amokachi and also sent the petition to the ministry of sports to save Delta state football from dying.

"This is all an attempt to use government interference to take over the FA. My stand on not becoming vice chairman to Tony Okowa as being forced by Amaju did not work, so, they have decided to come through another angle. That it is Delta North Senatorial District turn to produce the DFA Chairmanship. That, there was a gentleman political agreement in 1999." Fuludu told BSN Sports.

Proving that the Tuesday election is government interference, the ex-international listed four names among the candidates who are political appointees to the state governor, Okowa.

"Take a look at the four names who are political appointees on sports to governor Okowa wants to be in the board of the FA. They are: Sunday Lucky, Kenneth Nwaomucha, Nevile Ochuko, Stephen Cole. This is government interference which FIFA frowns at." The former Super Eagles winger said.
