EDO 2020 : Team FCT Arrives Abuja, Plans Better Performance In Delta

Team FCT on Thursday arrived Abuja safely after participating at the 20th edition of National Sports Festival tagged "EDO 2020" that took place in Benin City Edo state.
Seven buses, two ambulances and six heavily armed escorts led 253 contingents back to their base.
Team FCT ended the biannual competition with their heads up, the athletes showed strength and excelled with a total of 37 medals consisting of six gold, 15 silver and 16 bronze medals to finish 15th on the final medals table.
The FCT Minister, Mallam Mohammed Bello showered encomium on the athletes for their performances added the nation's capital will preparations in eranest to finish in a better position at the 21st National Sports Festival in Delta.
"You're all winners. The Minister who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of FCT, Olusade Adesola told athletes in Edo.
"The Minister is very happy with your performances because you've made FCT proud by winning with pride. No report of drug abuse among our athletes. Preparations for the next National Sports Festival will start early to earn a better performance than this.
"The welfare packages is what we are going to look into so that we can improve and keep most of you who represented us well."
The Acting Director of FCT Sports Department, Luka Istifanus praises the athletes for their performances adding that doling out instant hundred thousand naira (N100,000) to gold Medallist is away of encouraging the athletes for better performances. He added hands are on deck to make sure that the preparations for next year's National Sports Festival start this year.
