Edo 2020 Comes With A Colourful, Befiting Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony of the 20th National Sports Festival is rated as the best ever. The Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium where the event took place wore a new look as the edifice has been renovated and ready for commissioning by the Vice-president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo who left for Abuja after meeting with Oba of Benin and couldn't make it to declare the event open.
Nigeria top musician, Timi Dakolo was on the entertaining the crowd as states were arranged on seats wearing uniform kits in readiness for the march-past. The huge stage mounted in the middle of the pitch facing the VIP box where Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, Deputy Governor, Phillip Shuaibu, Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare, Commissioner for Sports of different states and many other dignitaries are seated.
Timi Dakolo kick started the event by singing the National Anthem before series of stage performances followed. The stage and the performances were tailored to showcase the traditional and cultural heritage of Benin Kingdom.
The crowd were wowed during the march-past when fireworks took over the sky making it colourful and different music were played for different states as they marched on the track to show their presence at the 20th National Sports Festival.
Governor Obaseki, Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare addressed the crowd after the march past as buses conveyed athletes and officials to their different destinations after the event was declared opened by Sunday Dare.
