Edo 2020: Ex-Flying Eagles Coach Showers Encomium on FCT Football Team

Former Flying Eagles coach, Abimbola Samuel has congratulated and poured encomium on the FCT Football Team who picked a qualification ticket during the North Central Elimination games in Ilorin, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Abimbola who was part of the delegates to Ilorin revealed that the FCT Boys have to put everything behind them and focus on the reason they were in Ilorin before they went on to win all their three matches to pick the group A sole ticket .

Speaking to Bsnsports, he said: "I really want every stakeholder in the member of the FCT to really appreciate the boys that went to represent FCT in the football competition in Ilorin. For long I have not seen this type of disciplined set of players, who listen to leaders and they deliver despite the hardship they went through.

Samuel, FCT FA board member revealed the stress the players went through before their first match eight hours after long journey from Abuja to Ilorin.

They got there late on Monday night and on the second day, they were on the pitch. The boys suffered, they stayed where there was no light, no water; but looking at the way they played, I can't but just appreciate them and I wish their allowances are duly paid, because they have made us proud".

FCT Men Football Team thrashed Kogi 6-1 in their first match, defeat Niger state 3-0 (walk over) in the second group A game before 1-0 defeat to the hosts, Kwara state in the last h to pick the group's sole ticket.

The team will be at the National Sports Festival in Edo as the defending champions, having won the gold medal two years ago.
