The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of FCT, Olusade Adesola said he will recommend policies that will protect the athletes that represented the nation's capital in the 20th National Sports Festival, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Olusade made this known on Wednesday when he paid a visit to the athletes and officials of the FCT at the Games Village. He stated that the FCT Minister, Malam Muhammed Bello and Minister of State, Hajia Ramatu Tijjani appreciated their achievement for winning medals honourably.
"I want to assure the athletes that both the honourable minister and minister of states appreciate what our athletes have done and we will make recommendations to them in order to retain our athletes and we believed this will translate to a better performance.
He added, "Most of the states are benefiting from our athlete, what we do to retain our athlete will also be look into, so we will look to expand the numbers of games and athlete in future because where our total number of contigents is not up to number of medals won by a state, but within the number our athletes we have done well, more importantly they are have been very disciplined.
"When you see the age range our athletes are slightly young, so the potentials and passion is there."
Adesola said he was satisfied with the achievement of the FCT contingents despite finishing 12 on the final medals table.
"To say I'm satisfied is understatement, I'm greatly impressed. We have learnt many lessons from our participation in the 20th NSF, we are taking those lessons back home and sit down to see two things; How we can detail our strength when we have greater capacity and how we can broaden our net in order to increase our position.
