  Edo 2020: Gov Obaseki Clears Air On Hosting By Sampson Adedeji Contrary to the reports emanating from the media that Edo State has dropped the idea of hosting the 2020 National Sports Festival, the Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has shed more light on what is going on, BSNSports.com.ng reports. The events was supposed to come in March 2020 but was postponed indefinitely due to outbreak of Coronavirus and despite the new date been announced all seems not to be ready. The governor while receiving the Local Organising Committee (LOC), via his verified Twitter explained that financially the state is not buoyant enough to host but if the federal government can offer assistance they will be ready to host the festival. "I disclosed that Edo state is ready to host the National Sports Festival (NSF), but we don't have the funds at this point in time to host the Games. "COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on the finances of various states and countries across the globe and Edo State is not left out. "If the Federal Government however, in its wisdom, decides to provide funding for the Games, we will be too willing to host the country. "Cancelling the game is not the solution to this issue. Beyond the game itself, there is the Tokyo Olympics to consider. "We have to sit down and look at all these issues critically before reaching a final decision," he stated.
