EDO FA SALUTES BENDEL INSURANCE, HAIL EDO STATE GOVERNMENT

Edo state football Association Board led by Hon Frank ilaboya has saluted the efforts of Edo state Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, his deputy Rt.Hon Philip shaibu at repositioning Bendel insurance football club of Benin city.

Frank ilaboya made the statement after the Benin Arsenals defeated shooting stars sports club of Ibadan 1-0 in their final group game of the NNL super 8 playoff, southern conference on Wednesday in Aba, to qualify the team for the 2018/19 NPFL season.

According to ilaboya, the team's promotion to the elite league has restored the faith of its fans across the globe.

An elated ilaboya said, the rebranding of Bendel insurance some months ago has paid off and commended the state Government for the massive investment in sports in the state especially football, he congratulated Governor Godwin Obaseki for the return of Bendel insurance to the NPFL and his concern and Passion for sports that has seen the the appointment of Barr Dudu -Orumen as the chairman of Edo state Sports commission which is a clear indication of Government commitment to reviving sports in the state, just as massive works are on going at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium, and the approval of Twenty mini stadia across the eighteen local Government Area of the state. He heaped praises on the state Deputy Governor Rt. Hon Philip Shaibu whose presence with the team as a player brought about a huge motivation for the entire team as he became the first sitting Deputy Governor in Nigeria to play in the Nigeria football league.

The Edo FA boss who said in a few weeks from now the state owned female team Edo Queens will be rebranded to regain its status in the Nigeria women football league, however thanked everyone for the support given to Bendel insurance and sue for its sustainability.

Ilaboya who is also the Executive chairman of Owan West local Govt Area of Edo state said he is very happy that Bendel insurance Promotion to the Nigeria top flight league after eleven Years in the Lower division happened during his time as Edo FA boss.

Ilaboya stated that the relegation of Bendel insurance fc took some shine off the NPFL for over a decade, adding that the return of this great club to the NPFL will bring back the vibes, the glorious days of the team and footbal in the state as the fans will have the opportunity to watch top flight football again in Benin city.

Bendel insurance who won the regular season of the NNL group B2 finished top of the southern conference of the NNL super 8, in Aba with 9 Points after recording a 3-0 win over Delta force, Pipped Remo stars 1-0, and took 3sc to the cleaners with 1-0 win.

The 1978 FA Cup Kings will begin their campaign in the NPFL for 2018/19 season in week two at home to Enyimba of Aba in Benin city, after their week one encounter away to Wikki tourist of Bauchi was Postponed.
