Egypt To Host African Nations Cup For The 5th Time

Confederation of African Football, CAF, confirmed Egypt as host of the 2019 African Nations Cup finals, after a meeting of their executive committee in Dakar on Tuesday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

They will stage the expanded 24-team event in June-July after initial hosts Cameroon were stripped of the tournament last month over concerns at the slow pace of preparations and insecurity.

Egypt is the most successful country of the tournament, having won it seven it times.

Egypt will be hosting the biennial football tournament for the fifth time after hosted it in 1959, 1974, 1986 and 2006.
