In recent time, players with Nigerian roots are recording great exploits with a number of Nigerian players making waves in Europe and across the globe. The exploits of Nigerian born footballers have not gone unnoticed by top clubs in Europe with the likes of Moses Simon getting rewarded for his outstanding and impactful season with Nantes.

The French side recently extended the contract of the Kaduna born Winger with a four years contract. Another French based Nigerian footballer, Victor Osimhen emerged as Player of the Season for Lille having scored 13 goals in the French Championnat and has been linked with Napoli who values him at around 50 million euros. Also newly invited Dutch Born Nigerian Cyriel Dessiers was recently snapped up by Gent FC of Belgium.

There are a plethora of Nigerian young lads also doing their bits to make a leap into a higher level of Professional Football. Sadiq Umar who has been linked to not less than 26 clubs and who just concluded a brilliant season with Partizan Belgrade and John Mbachu, another fast rising Nigerian young lad making waves in the far North of Africa with Egyptian second division club, SOHAG SPORTING CLUB one of a few Nigerian players recording exploits across the globe.

Before a lot of leagues across the world including the Egyptian second division league was halted by the Coronavirus Pandemic which has disrupted activities in the global space, John Mbachu was already on a high scoring a total of 7 goals in 13 appearances and has thus attracted interests and enquiries from a number of Top clubs in the Egyptian elite league as well as from various clubs in Europe but then sadly, the Coronavirus Pandemic happened and that has slightly slowed down interests on this young Nigerian goal poacher but this exciting young lad who has had stints with a number of clubs including GOMHORIA SHEEBEN SC, another second division side in Egypt, Moussou FC of Ivory Coast, Beitar Tobruk Netanya of Israel is not given up on his dreams of playing for a Top European side as quickly as possible.

When quizzed on his possible next destination, John was circumspect in the choice of his words and had this to say '' for now I still have a valid contract with SOHAG SPORTING CLUB and why there are a number of enquiries and interests from a number of clubs in North Africa and Europe, I still have a valid contract with my club but I believe as soon as my club receives an official interest and it appears fair enough for my club and also meet my personal demands, then I will be prepared to take that leap forward. My dream is to play for the best clubs in the World and to play champions league football soon.

Mbachu, no doubt is one of Nigeria's bright prospect and it is only a matter of time for this Nigeria's prodigious talent to start hitting more headlines. No doubt Nigeria has a golden generation fast unfolding before our very eyes.
